Tuttle Club LA

Hello kids, It’s time for our bi-monthly Tuttle Club gathering. I always find it hard to describe what Tuttle Club is only because it’s so many things. In a nutshell, it’s a meet-up of people interested in Social Media, internet and mobile technologies, and ideas. A loose community of coders/programmers, graphic designers, social media professionals (and plenty of non professionals), musicians, filmmakers, marketers, and ideas people. It’s the only thing of it’s kind in the Greater Los Angeles area. It’s a casual setting. It’s breezy and conversational. It’s whatever you want it to be. And the best thing? ALL ARE WELCOME. Oh, and it costs nothing to attend. If you’re free Friday morning, why not stop by at your leisure?

Now on to something pretty cool. I’ve been receiving a series of emails from Tuttle founder Lloyd Davis about his journey to the last SXSW. Not just content with flying into Texas from London, Lloyd chose to fly into Boston and travel the country by train down the East coast, through the American south, and eventually to Los Angeles. There’s some great stories there, triumphs, set-backs, mini Tuttle meet-ups, and some amazing people he’s met along the way. I HIGHLY suggest you sign-up. You can do that right here.

Well, it’s been a big week for me — a move, a birthday, and an exciting new job offer! Unfortunately, that may mean that I won’t be able to come to Tuttle quite so often, at least for the next few months, but I’ll see what I can do, and I’ll still make sure all the other regulars will still be showing up for coffee and conversation every other week.

That said, this Friday we’ll be doing the usual, discussing work, freelancing, tech, design, phones and lots more. Join us, bring a friend, and be ready to meet some smart and creative new people. Last week a friend of mine from middle school just happened to be nearby and joined us, which was quite a treat for me.

It's a baby at Tuttle LA!

I hope everyone is doing well this week — can you believe it’s already July? Well, if you’re not heading out of town for the holiday weekend (or if you have some time to spare before you leave), we’d love to see you at Tuttle LA this Friday!

We’ll be doing the usual, discussing work, freelancing, tech, design, phones and lots more. And we may have some more special little guests this week since people’s kids are out of school. I loved learning about Moshi Monsters last week with David’s son, and it was great to play with Jeb’s youngest daughter.

Did you notice how different Tuttle LA felt last time? The dynamics of the group are definitely morphing into something wonderful as more and more people join us. It was the first time that I was unable to get around to talking with everyone. Don’t get me wrong, people weren’t falling out into the streets, but our little side room off the coffee house is getting a little more crowded. And what the hell are they doing to our space!? It was once airy, bright, and zen like. Now we’re meeting amongst racks or prom dresses, children’s shoes, and paintings of car crashes. Bizarre, but truth be told, I like it.

To all the new faces we saw last time, thanks so much for coming out. We loved having you and hope you join us again. To everyone else in LA that wants to meet up with the city’s only social media cafe, follow the directions below
