It’s hard to believe we’ve been meeting up in Long Beach every other week for the better part of this year. We’ve all met new people, made new friends and learned at least a little something. We’ve been having a great time with Tuttle LA recently, with wonderful special guests, starting new projects together and even getting some work done. We’ve also been meeting more interesting new people who have been coming to join us for coffee, conversation and computer time at The Library Coffee House in Long Beach.
This week I know I’ll be getting a tutorial on using Amazon’s remote storage solution from Jen, and Jeb is planning on bringing phones for people to play with. I’ll be working on Geoff’s new Tour Small blog, and we’ll also just be catching up on what’s new.

If you weren’t able to make it to Tuttle LA this past week — and even if you were — we have plans to hang out with Mario Cacciottolo again. We’ll be meeting at El Carmen, 8138 W 3rd St, Los Angeles, CA, on Wednesday, July 22, starting at 7pm for drinks, food and fun. And if you’d like to get your photo taken for Someone Once Told Me, Mario will have his camera in tow.
In observance of the 4th of July, Tuttle Club LA is going to take a week off. That means no Tuttle in Long Beach on July 3rd. We’re going to resume our normal schedule on July 17th. Oh Yes, that reminds me! July 17th…. we’ll be hosting a very special guest from across the pond, the very lovely Mario Cacciottolo. He’s going to want to aim a camera at you and snap a few pics of you holding a sign of something someone once told you. Please be prepared if you’d like to take part. I hear he’s very impatient and prone to violent outbursts I kid.
Also wanted to throw and idea out there: how about let’s step Tuttle up a bit and hold it every week starting in August or September? Something to think about. So from Francine, Jeb, Al, Vaughan, Jen, and myself (did I miss someone?) have a great 4th!
As you’ll notice, we have a shiny new logo for our site courtesy of the very talented Vaughan Risher. He’s been a Tuttle LA regular for a while now and he decided to take it upon himself to give the Tuttle Club — yes, all of us — a look. He transformed the concepts of a casual coffee meeting and the exchange of ideas into the logo you see above.

I was away for the last Tuttle, but I heard there were lots of fun things going on including a demo of Google Wave by Jen Hanen. This Friday, we’ll likely be playing with Wave again, and Matthew Arevalo should be brining along a new iPhone 3G. Don’t worry Nokia fans, between Jeb, Jen and Al, there are plenty shiny new Nokia mobiles to play with, too. And if there’s something you’d like to bring or talk about, we don’t have any real agenda, so just come and chat.

@jebbrilliant and @1indienation find Tuttle Club LA relaxing
Tuttle Club LA is definitely picking up steam. We’ve gone past the getting to know everyone stage and are actually mixing in a bit of work as we meet. Francine has been working on a few of our blogs and Vaughan has been whipping out logo’s and avatars. It’s actually quite nice to work on projects with each other. Of course, it’s not all nose to the grindstone, we have a lot of fun. There’s a dizzying array of conversations you can dip in and out of plus you can marvel at the sheer volume of techy-gadgets that end up on the tables. If you get bored of that, we can always stick someone in the message chairs and laugh as they get pummeled (the message chairs are in fact cleverly disguised torture devices).
We LOVE it when new people show up, It’s open to everyone you know. Why not come down and see what it’s all about?
