Our next Tuttle LA Social Media Cafe will be at Toorak Coffee this Friday, March 12, at 10:30 a.m. We’ll be getting together like we do every other week to discuss work, tech and whatever else happens to be on our minds. We’ll also talk about the upcoming Tuttle2Texas visit on March 19.
Hope you can join us for some tasty coffee and food, good conversation and great people to meet.
“Much more exciting than this picture shows, it was great to talk tech, webworking, marketing, vegetarian restaurant seeking, interviewing, reviewing and backupstrategies.” – Luke Dorny
We’re loving our new spot at Toorak Coffee in Long Beach, and we’ll be there again this Friday, February 26 at 10:30 a.m. to talk tech, freelancing, social media and more. As always, there’s free WiFi and plenty of tasty food and drink. We hope to see you there!
The latest, minimalist iteration of our space at The Library
This week for Tuttle LA, we’ve decided to do something different — change venues. The Library has been wonderful for us, but our room keeps morphing into new side businesses for the coffee shop. The latest incarnation seems to be a combination art and open mic space, and there isn’t as much seating as there used to be for us. The internet connection also isn’t great. So while it’s been fun watching our room transform, this week, we’ll be trying out a new Long Beach coffee house — Toorak Coffee.
Please help spread the word about the change of venue so nobody gets left out.
This isn’t a permanent move yet — we’re just testing Toorak out. We’ve discussed moving closer to LA, and we’re still exploring new venues, so if you have any to suggest, please leave them in the comments or tell us on Friday. Our requirements: Free WiFi, a table large enough for 6-8, at least a few available outlets, an environment where we can be a bit noisy, and some sort of food and beverage.
We’ve been having a great time with Tuttle LA recently, with wonderful special guests, starting new projects together and even getting some work done. We’ve also been meeting more interesting new people who have been coming to join us for coffee, conversation and computer time at The Library Coffee House in Long Beach.
This week I know I’ll be getting a tutorial on using Amazon’s remote storage solution from Jen, and Jeb is planning on bringing phones for people to play with. I’ll be working on Geoff‘s new Tour Small blog, and we’ll also just be catching up on what’s new.
This Friday should be more good stuff. Why not join us? Let us know if you’re interested in carpooling and sound off in the comments and let us know you’re coming!

In observance of the 4th of July, Tuttle Club LA is going to take a week off. That means no Tuttle in Long Beach on July 3rd. We’re going to resume our normal schedule on July 17th. Oh Yes, that reminds me! July 17th…. we’ll be hosting a very special guest from across the pond, the very lovely Mario Cacciottolo. He’s going to want to aim a camera at you and snap a few pics of you holding a sign of something someone once told you. Please be prepared if you’d like to take part. I hear he’s very impatient and prone to violent outbursts I kid.
Also wanted to throw and idea out there: how about let’s step Tuttle up a bit and hold it every week starting in August or September? Something to think about. So from Francine, Jeb, Al, Vaughan, Jen, and myself (did I miss someone?) have a great 4th!
As you’ll notice, we have a shiny new logo for our site courtesy of the very talented Vaughan Risher. He’s been a Tuttle LA regular for a while now and he decided to take it upon himself to give the Tuttle Club — yes, all of us — a look. He transformed the concepts of a casual coffee meeting and the exchange of ideas into the logo you see above.
Lots of mobile toys at Tuttle LA
I was away for the last Tuttle, but I heard there were lots of fun things going on including a demo of Google Wave by Jen Hanen. This Friday, we’ll likely be playing with Wave again, and Matthew Arevalo should be brining along a new iPhone 3G. Don’t worry Nokia fans, between Jeb, Jen and Al, there are plenty shiny new Nokia mobiles to play with, too. And if there’s something you’d like to bring or talk about, we don’t have any real agenda, so just come and chat.
So come join us for coffee, conversation and nice respite from the work week where you could still conceivably get work done. All are welcome to join. Let us know if you’ll be coming in the comments. We hope to see you there!
If you’re interested in carpooling, let us know and we’ll see if there’s someone in your area you can ride with.
