Welcome to Tuttle LA, the place for LA-area social media pros and fans to meet, network and grab a cup of coffee. We tend to talk about social networking, mobile phones, websites, Twitter, music and film, and we're happy to welcome anyone who wants to join us, either online on in person.

We had a great time at Toorak Coffee in Long Beach during our last Tuttle LA, and we’re looking to recreate the magic! We had a great big table with lots of room to move around, nobody looked at us like we were too loud, and we even got some delicious complimentary chocolate and fruit mousse treats! Also, for you Foursquare folks, they have a special offer for complimentary coffee when you buy food.

We’ll be meeting at ToorakCoffee at 10:30 a.m., February 12, and we’ll be at the big table in the center of the coffee shop — you won’t be able to miss us. So come join us to chat about social networking, mobile phones, freelancing, or whatever else you may be interested in, and use the free WiFi while enjoying some tasty food and drink. We hope to see you there!

The latest, minimalist iteration of our space at The Library

This week for Tuttle LA, we’ve decided to do something different — change venues. The Library has been wonderful for us, but our room keeps morphing into new side businesses for the coffee shop. The latest incarnation seems to be a combination art and open mic space, and there isn’t as much seating as there used to be for us. The internet connection also isn’t great. So while it’s been fun watching our room transform, this week, we’ll be trying out a new Long Beach coffee house — Toorak Coffee.

Please help spread the word about the change of venue so nobody gets left out.

This isn’t a permanent move yet — we’re just testing Toorak out. We’ve discussed moving closer to LA, and we’re still exploring new venues, so if you have any to suggest, please leave them in the comments or tell us on Friday. Our requirements: Free WiFi, a table large enough for 6-8, at least a few available outlets, an environment where we can be a bit noisy, and some sort of food and beverage.

Yes, i know this is a little last minute, but we’re putting on a geek dinner/tweet-up with the lovely Toby Moores (@sleepydog) as he’s in town from London doing the kick-ass things that Toby does. It’s sure to be the best night of your week. Toby is part of Amplified09 and The Creative Coffee Club… oh and working on this tiny project that you see below…

We’re meeting at a place called Pancho’s in Manhatten Beach on Thursday night December 17th. We haven’t actually set a time because of Toby’s schedule (he may be flying out that night) but you should figure around 6-ish. You can follow Francine’s or my own Twitter updates for a firm time.
